Shambrook

An email I received from Ann in the UK this week who recently discovered the Roberts Illinois History blog. Ann is researching her Shambrook roots. I told her she came to the right place . . . anyone out there doing Shambrook genealogy? I'll connect you with Ann.
From Ann:
This is the photo of my Great great grandad, John Shambrook who was born 1840 Barnstable district Devon uk. He lived in Malvern uk all of his marrried life. This photo was taken by my great great uncle John, known as Jack. The photo shows him closing the door of the Emmanuelle church Malvern for the last time in 1914, after being the verger for 40 years. I am certain he is related to Robert Shambrook who went to Illinois. He did have an older brother Robert but I am not sure they are the same person or maybe a cousin. I will let you know if I manage to find out anymore. Thanks for all your links I have looked through most and it's really interesting to know more about the Shambrook side of the family.

Benjamin Tobey

BENJAMIN TOBEY, d 23 June 1868
No obit.
--Photo from Find A Grave.  Steven Baker.
I believe Benjamin's parents are Prince Tobey and Esther Marie Hunt Tobey, as recorded in the FAG info for George Tobey by John Schmeeckle.  The Tobey's were early settlers to the Lyman Township area and possibly lost these three children before moving on to new frontiers in Nebraska. Benjamin, Frank, and George.
This headstone photo was added to Find A Grave at a later date.  Steven Baker was the photographer.  Steven did a great job photographing some of the oldest stones.  They are so difficult to transcribe, but he has done a fabulous job uncovering the stones and getting just the correct lighting.
Steven transcribed and recorded this burial as occurring in 1868.  The Lyman Township Cemetery map lists it as the 9th burial in the cemetery.

Elizabeth & Oscar Kenward

I would assume that Elizabeth McConaty Kenward, wife of William Kenward, died in childbirth.  With a son, Oscar, buried nearby, and his death date being the same as hers (per Find A Grave information.)
March 13, 1871.  Section A. Plot 340.  Lyman Township Cemetery.
I have not located an obit for this mother and child.
