They started farming in 1877 on the Williams farm, Section 29, Lyman Twp., three miles southwest of Roberts. They stayed on that farm until they moved to Roberts in 1911. In 1895 John purchased a farm in Section 4, Lyman Twp., three miles north of Roberts. John died February 19, 1915. Mary died March 30, 1931. Both are buried in Lyman Cemetery, Roberts, Illinois.

The History of Ford county, Vol II, Page 867 states that John Talbot was born June 28, 1851 one of two sons born to William and Mary Ogden Talbot. The other son, Thomas, was born in 1853. Also that Mary died when John was four years old. The boys were cared for by an aunt part of the time and put in an orphanage the rest of the time. No other records to date have been found. There have been some family records that state there was a half brother named Robert Talbot who may have lived in Indiana.
